Christmas over

and it was head down and bum up for me as I focused on the quilt which we will be raffeling as a fundraiser for Relay For Life  which will be held here in Port pIrie in April 2011.
The Country Hart Stich 'n' Bitch Girls, the Pirie Quilters and a couple of special friends of Country Hart have come up with these beautiful blocks which I had to turn into a beautiful quilt which would do these blocks justice. Oh and my lovely daughter Abbie who only picked up an needle for the first time a couple of months ago and had never had any lessons even made a block.......the beautiful heart 3rd on the top row I am so proud of her she did a wonderful job
I have pieced together with a beautiful Moda Jelly Roll "Faith" by Howard Marcus.
Stitchery, applique, needle turn, machine embroidery.....its all there.
I am so happy with how the quilt has turned out and it is a decent 62" x 62"
So the quilt is off to the quilter on Wednesday then it will be displayed at Country Hart while it is being raffeled
If you would like to buy a ticket or if you would like to sell a book for us give me a yell via email

Now on to the next project.......would you believe A Christmas Stocking??????? yep a Chrissy Stocking for Homespuns Christmas in July issue................best get cracking have to have it in by the 7th

So on that note I will say Goodnight

Merry Christmas

I hope you and your family all have a wonderful time together and that Santa is very kind to you all........I have just checked at Norad and there is only about 2 hours left before Santa boards his sliegh and begins his trip around the world you can check it out and see where Santa is at www.noradsanta.org/

Steve is at work this Christmas but we do have the rest of the family together, as our kids, Dylan, Abbie and Brady, my Mum and my Brother, his wife and their 4 kids all gather at our place for Christmas lunch.......we have been really busy over the last few months so we are keeping it simple this year, ham, prawns, chicken & Salads around the pool and of course a bottle of wine or 2 maybe.......lol

Steve sent me beautiful flowers today because he is not here......the tears he brought to my eyes were not a good look in the shop though.....oh well

We would also like to say an huge THANKYOU to all of you our wonderful Country Hart family for your support and patronage over the past 12 months

We also have some exciting news for 2011.....All of the stock in the bricks and Mortor shop will be also available online at www.countryhart.com.au so in the first few months of 2011 the website is going to grow big time as we go through the huge task of listing all the stock

Also in 2011 I have been ask to design a project for the Christmas in July issue of Homespun......which I have to have submitted by Jan 7th......eeeeeeek!!!

I have also been ask to submit projects in 3 editions of Country Threads in 2011

So now you know what i am doing between Christmas and New Year ......designing Christmas in July....Oh and I will be piecing together the beautiful blocks all the girls from Country Hart's Stitch 'n' Bitch group and the Pirie Quilters have made for our Relay For Life Quilt which when finished will be raffled with the proceeds going to Relay For Life

I will pop a pic on the blog as soon as I get the top together there are some amazing blocks it should be beautiful
so thats me for the rest of 2010.....don't think I can fit much more in

So from my family to yours Have a wonderful Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year

Doesn't Time Fly??????

How the time has flown, Country Hart's Shopfront is 1 year old today.
It only seems like yesterday that Steve and I were covered from head to toe in burgandy paint sitting on the floor eating takeaway for tea wondering if we have set our sights too high.......could we make our dream a reality??????

I guess we did make it happen cause Over the last 12 months Country Hart has just expanded and expanded a little like my waistline....lol

We have had very successful workshops in 2010  with even more to come in 2011.....can't wait first off the blocks for 2011 is Rosalie Quinlan and Melanie Hurlston in March
We have a wonderful group of girls who meet at the shop every Wednesday for "Stitch 'n' Bitch" ......yep thats today and they have a Birthday Party planned so should be a great day cause they don't only quilt they are fantastic cooks.........might put them on the next round of master chef

The Pirie and Broughton Quilters and the Crystal Brook Girls........they all know who they are, have been absolutley wonderful in their support so a huge thankyou to all those great girls xxx

Great time @ the Country Hart Chrissy Workshop

After a very quick 3 weeks of designing, sewing, typing and planning today saw me at the front of the class for the first time.......after being flat out planning Country Hart's Chrissy Workshop I had not had a lot of time to think but around 6.30 this morning eeeeekkkk!!!! reality finally hit with a thud...I was the tutor, I ask myself all the questions, could I do this?? Were they going to be happy with what I had designed??? had I remembered everything???? Well too late now was I going to sink or swim??? only time would tell

9.45 am they started arriving & to their surprise to go along with the Chrissy theme......no name tags.....Santa Hats with their names sewn accross the front even the non hat wearers got into the Chrissy spirit and happily wore their hats

We started with morning tea of vanilla cupcakes all decorated with holly wrapped in gorgeous Christmas Wrappers and Coffee

After taking a big deep breath I joined Abbie at the front of my first class, feeling a little more confident as Ab stood over the class with her trusty wooden spoon to keep them in order....lol....Gail and Natalie will remember Ab and the wooden spoon. I showed the table runner I had designed for the class and described what they would be doing. All the girls proceeded to unwrap the parcels in front of them which conatined their kits for the day

We had a great Chrissy themed lunch and they seemed to love their Bon Bons filled with lots of goodies

back to the stitching we wound up around 4pm and waved goodbye to our dear friend Granny Loz who had travelled from the Barrossa for my first workshop

So here is the evidence of what turned out to be a fantastic day thanks to my dear friend Naomi who I might ad is also responsible for me taking this class in the first place xx

Sewing Sewing Sewing

After a full on weekend feautring 1 x 9 foot Christmas tree, 1500 fairy lights and 100's of red and gold baubles the Christmas Tree is up at the shop and looking beautiful. I will take some pics tommorrow when I go to work . Ab and I went down and flicked the switch last night and it looks great all lit up and filling the window of the shop with sparkling little lights

Today I have had a day at home .......shop is shut on Mondays......so I set to finishing a couple of ideas that I have been playing with for the last couple of weeks and I feel like I have had a very productive day.
The patterns for these two designs will be available in the shop or at

later in the week

Oh Christmas Tree is a great weekend project, quick and easy little table runner with its own centre piece of 3 Chenile Christmas Trees.....they are so easy you will want to make more

When this range of fabrics featuring all your Stitch intructions......just like the stitch guides in the mags I just had to make I'm itch'n to be stitch'n. It is an folder cover which had heaps of pockets for your pigma pens, unpickers, scissors etc along with a cute little pins and needles pouch and rings for those beautiful cottage garden threads we all love to use. There are pockets for the packaged embroidery threads and is is made to fit a A4 ring binder so you can also add plastic pouches for your other embroidery threads and even plastic sleeves containing your stitcherys

I hope you all enjoy my lastes offerings and you are all having lots of fun with your stitching.
I did take lots of pics at the Port Broughton Rainbow Quilters Quilt Exhibition last weekend but unfortunatley I have miss palced the cord to my camera but I will post those pics as soon as I lay my hands on it

Chrissy Quilt finally finished

Have been working tirelessly over the last 4 days to finally finish my
2010 Christmas Design
Christmas Magic

we took the quilt to the park to take photos but the wind won
This quilt is pieced 4 1/2" squares which has three "Christmas Balls" hanging down from bias strips. The balls are stitchery's of Country Harts busy Riendeers, playing in the snow, looking after Santas mail and decorating the tree. There are alos some stitchery;s of presents and little Christmas sayings in some of the blocks.
The second border has been stitched in the beautiful Cottage Garden Thread and reads "With all letters sent & tree lights all bright we suggle down to sleep for the night"
I then hand quilted the quilt using perle 8. Oh nearly forgot there is some applique with the sliegh at the bottom of the quilt
You can check the details of the quilt out at

or drop into the shop or you could get your fav patchwork shop to get the pattern in for you
Christmas Magic will be available this week both as a pattern or a kit

here is some pics of the stitchery's

Show Time

Well the first agricultural show of the season was  held at Crystal Brook on Saturday. So Steve and I headed off to check it out.
Just after coming in the gate I spied a little stall on the edge of sideshow alley .....you know the ones that sell the dolls on a stick etc
it brought back so many memories of being at the show with my Dad.
He used to buy me one at the Crystal Book Show  every year when I was little and we would hang her from my bedroom curtains when we got home.......he has gone now so I just had to have one to remind me of Dad isn't she gorgeous??????????????????......I sure he smiled when I walked out the gate with her

So many of the girls who are regulars shop had been busy with their entries so off we went to the pavillions to see how they faired.
well the big CONGRATS goes to  brook girls Maxine and Allison who both had lots of 1st prizes next to their names in both quilting and cooking sections well done girls and I also spied prizes on Judy and Julie's entries great job girls.  I am sure I probably missed someone so to all those girls who won and to all those who had entries in the Crystal Brook Show WELL DONE Everyone

As many of you who know I was a member of the Chocolate Crow Trader for some time and on Saturday I also got to meet a lady who was also one of the Choccie Crows back when I joined  the lovely Stella Whittingham of Dolls on Parade
It was lovely to meet you Stella
Check out Stellas beautiful dolls at

Well back to some work.......it is my day off today but with the housework out the way I am about to start sewing got 2 new designs on the cutting table and also making one of the Gail Pan's beautiful designs from our retreat

Evidence of a great weekend

well after hours at the computer and 300+ photos of last weekend I have finally got a slideshow together so you can all share in the great time we all had.

our resident shutterbug thought she was immune to the cameras ........bad news Naomi

She is Stitching.....no camera....lol

We had some great fun over the weekend with "The Thinking Hat"
Saturday Nat was teaching layered applique using baking paper and Our Gail got a little flustered.......which is normal for Our Gail.....and she ironed her applique to her paper pattern sheet........we still have the evidence it is at the picture framers.......lol Anyway the Thinking Hat was created and throughout Sunday if you made the slightest mistake you became the reciepient of the "Thinking Hat" as you will see no-one was immune....were they Gail????????

Gail in the Thinking hat

Here all the fun of the weekend on our Slideshow take a peek
